Getting started with fertility care just requires a little planning and preparation

We look forward to working with you to overcome infertility. To help you get started, our team has created this guide for new patients. You can also contact our office if you have questions.
Your guide to getting started with fertility care
Your first step is to schedule a fertility appointment with Shauna McKinney MD. You can do this by calling our office or submitting a contact form. Our caring office staff will work with you to get an appointment time that works with your schedule.
Once you have an appointment, you’ll receive forms to complete. This paperwork helps your doctor learn more about you, including your health history and family-building goals. To make the most of your appointment time, we ask that you complete these forms before your first fertility appointment.
Completing paperwork isn’t the only thing you’ll need to do before your appointment. When you’re getting started with fertility care, our team recommends bringing the following items to your first visit.
- List of your medications, including vitamins and supplements
- Brief history of your personal and family medical history
- Information about your menstrual cycle
- Summary of your past pregnancies, pregnancy attempts and/or miscarriages
- Overview of any previous fertility tests or treatments
Our Tulsa fertility doctor also recommends bringing a list of questions and your partner (if you have one). Being prepared when you’re getting started with fertility care will make your path to parenthood that much easier.
Discover what happens at your first fertility appointment
During your first visit with our Tulsa fertility doctor, you’ll start by discussing your health and fertility history. After this conversation, your doctor will perform a physical exam on the female partner. Your doctor will then likely order a transvaginal ultrasound and bloodwork to assess her hormone levels. For the male partner, our team will ask him to provide a semen sample.
Using this information, your doctor will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan to help you start your fertility journey with us.
If you’re ready to take the first step, please contact us to schedule an appointment. We look forward to making your parenthood dreams come true.
